ESPN’s Malika Andrews shares heartbreaking reaction to Breonna Taylor decision

ESPN’s Malika Andrews deserves so much respect and credit for her hard work inside the NBA bubble at Disney World, which of course has included covering the fight for social justice from the league’s players.

On Wednesday night, with athletes all over the sports world including Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James speaking out about the Kentucky grand jury decision over the death of Breonna Taylor, Andrews joined SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt and gave not just the perspective of players but her own as well as a 25-year-old Black woman, just a year younger than Taylor was before she died.

“I have prided myself in being able to be objective and cover these sorts of issues. But when it is so clear that the system of objectivity in journalism is so white-washed, and doesn’t account for the fact that when I am walking up the hill, my wonderful producer Melinda reminds me that Breonna Taylor was 26 and I am 25 and that could have been me, it is very hard to continue to go to work, and that’s what these players were feeling.”
