ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit again makes shocking, yet favorable, top-six ranking

Kirk Herbstreit hasn’t always shown love to his Alma-mater, THE Ohio State Buckeyes, but in his recent NCAA post-Week 3 rankings, he’s wearing those Scarlet and Gray colored glasses apparently.

No, Herbstreit didn’t make any incredibly bold claim. The former Ohio State quarterback ranked his OSU third in his weekly rankings for the second-straight week, coming in above LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma.

For most analysts, it’s tough putting Ohio State, who have had highly impressive performances over the last two weeks, over Lousiana State. LSU has the best victory among the top-six, so that seems to be the prevailing rationale despite the Buckeyes looking like a complete team with tons of talent so far in 2019.

However, like Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma have yet to play a top-25 opponent. The order of those three is really up in the air for most that cover college football, with a coin flip to separate them.

That said, here’s exactly how Herbstreit tweeted out his top-six teams.

Just for reference, the AP Poll has Georgia at No. 3, LSU at 4, OU at 5 and then Ohio State. So does the Amway Coaches and NFF Super 16 polls.

However, the way in which Ohio State has won by being dominant on the ground, in the air, and with defense and special teams, it’s no wonder  Herbstreit’s opinion is what it is.
