ESPN’s Jason Reid picks Dwayne Haskins as favorite pick of the 2019 NFL Draft

A panel of ESPN experts have been weighing in on some of the biggest questions of the 2019 NFL Draft. Of course if you follow Ohio State, you know that Dwayne Haskins got a ton of draft coverage as many experts and NFL types had varying takes on where he would go in the draft. As tends to happen with QBs, he was dissected by many from his arm angle to what his favorite cereal was for breakfast — I mean who can rip apart opposing defenses with Golden Grahams in their system?

When asked what their favorite pick of the draft was this year though, one ESPN analyst singled out Dwayne Haskins. That’s right — Jason Reid of The Undefeated had the following to say about the gunslinger:

QB Dwayne Haskins to the Washington Redskins (No. 15). Shortly before the 2012 draft, the Redskins sent four high-round picks — three in the first round and one in the second — to acquire the second overall pick from the then-St. Louis Rams, which they used to select quarterback Robert Griffin III. Obviously, Griffin didn’t work out over the long haul. With the franchise still unsettled at QB, Washington used a first-round pick on Haskins, who obliterated Ohio State’s single-season marks for passing yards and touchdown passes. I get that there are questions about him, partly because he started only one season for the Buckeyes, but he’s a sharp, true pocket passer. And I almost forgot: Haskins has a boulder-sized chip on his shoulder after falling to No. 15. For Washington, this could work out spectacularly.

We may be biased here, but it’s hard to imagine it not being a steal for  Washington to get such a pure NFL-type pocket passer with elite accuracy at No. 15. Time will tell, but at least there are some experts in the corner of the former Heisman finalist.
