ESPN’s college football hype video was made so much better with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird’

Every year, ESPN chooses a song to serve as the season’s college football anthem and then proceeds to play said song incessantly for promos and game broadcasts.

Last year, the Official ESPN College Football Song™️ was “Natural” by Imagine Dragons. And we’re still scarred from the “Centuries” selection that even had Fall Out Boy asking ESPN to chill.

With Wednesday’s unveiling of ESPN’s hype video for the 2019 season, we all learned that “Let Go” by Judah & the Lion would serve as the song we’ll hear a million times between now and January.

But what if — and hear me out — that song was “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd? The hype video would look (and sound) something like this:

Right?!

The hype video just went from OK to absolutely perfect with a minor change in soundtrack.

Come on, Skynyrd. Give ESPN the rights. We need “Free Bird” to be a part of every college football Saturday.
