ESPN Roasted for Having Greg McElroy Explain Why Alabama Made It Over Florida State

Alabama made it into the College Football Playoff over Florida State, leading to many stunned and angry reactions among fans of the sport. But what made fans nearly as mad was the fact that ESPN, who hosted the College Football Playoff selection show, had analyst Greg McElroy, a former Crimson Tide quarterback, explain why the committee made its decision. Fans proceeded to roast the network—and McElroy—on X, formerly known as Twitter.

McElroy went on to say he wanted to "tip his cap" to the College Football Playoff, and fans let him have it for those comments as well.

Listening to McElroy, who won a national championship with the Crimson Tide, justify the committee's decision likely made the Florida State snub even worse for Seminoles fans. This college football fan couldn't resist taking a shot at McElroy after he said that a team (Florida State) "couldn't overcome subpar QB play."

Clearly, college football fans had had about enough of McElroy's analysis.
