ESPN ranks Vikings 19th in offseason rankings

Minnesota lost talent in free agency, but gained in the draft.

For Bill Barnwell of ESPN, that added up to an offseason that he considered below average. Barnwell ranked the Vikings No. 19 in a recent article. Here’s what he had to say about the team:

“[Stefon] Diggs is really good! Even if you’re optimistic about Jefferson, the chances of a first-round pick turning into a top-10 wide receiver aren’t extremely high. The team was overdue for a reboot at cornerback, and they used first-, third-, and fifth-round picks there, but I would have liked to see the Vikings target at least one low-cost veteran to try to rehabilitate under Mike Zimmer.”

In regards to that last point, Minnesota could possibly still target a low-cost veteran at cornerback, especially if the offseason comes to an end with a player like Dre Kirkpatrick available.

Minnesota lost cornerbacks Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander this offseason. It still has players like Mike Hughes, Holton Hill and Kris Boyd. It also drafted Jeff Gladney, Cameron Dantzler and Harrison Hand.
