ESPN provides Dolphins fans with NFL Draft primer for Top-25 CFB teams

There’s nothing wrong with looking ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft as a Dolphins fan, even this early in the season. Remember — the Dolphins organization themselves have dialed in on the 2020 NFL Draft as a pivotal turning point for the Dolphins as an organization. It’s why they’ve stockpiled a dozen draft selections for next year’s event — including a first round pick and two second round picks courtesy of the trade back with New Orleans that ultimately prompted the Dolphins to acquire quarterback Josh Rosen.

So yes, the 2019 NFL season still lies completely in front of us — but the occasional peek towards the future (and football on Saturdays) should be a completely normal and healthy part of any Dolphins fan’s routine over the next six months.

ESPN has provided a great first primer for Dolphins fans — a list of the best NFL Draft prospect on each of the top-25 ranked college football programs across the country. There are the usual suspects, such as Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence (not eligible until 2021) and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. But are you familiar with Ohio State defensive end Chase Young? Young logged 10.5 sacks as a true sophomore in 2018 and illustrates admirable explosiveness — he could very much be in play for the Dolphins’ pass rush if quarterback Josh Rosen materializes.

So too could Iowa defensive lineman A.J. Epenesa — a 280 pound monster who will surely appeal to Brian Flores. Think of Trey Flowers here.

There’s plenty of Dolphins football to look forward to, but also plenty of joy in the search for the talents who can help bring the Dolphins back from the brink.
