ESPN panel predicts Clippers to come in fourth in West in 2015-16

Sept. 01--An ESPN panel predicted that the Clippers will finish the 2015-16 season in fourth place in the Western Conference, behind the No. 1 Golden State Warriors, the No. 2 San Antonio Spurs and the No. 3 Houston Rockets.

The Clippers finished the 2014-15 season tied for second place in the West with a record of 56-26. Despite their record, they had to play the then-defending champion Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. The Clippers went on to eliminate the Spurs in a hard-fought series that came down to the final second of Game 7.

In the second round, the Clippers took a 3-1 lead over the Rockets, and were on their way to making the Western Conference finals for the first time in their 45-year existence. The Clippers then lost three games in a row, allowing the Rockets to become only the ninth team in NBA history to recover from such a deficit.

During the off-season, the Clippers re-signed free agents DeAndre Jordan and Austin Rivers. They also acquiredPaul Pierce, Lance Stephenson and Josh Smith. However, the ESPN panel predicts the Clippers will finish with the same record as last season -- 56-26.
