ESPN: Michigan State to ban basketball player Brock Washington for sexual assault

According to a report by ESPN, Michigan State University will move to ban basketball player Brock Washington after the University’s Office of Institutional Equity determined that he had sexually assaulted a woman.

This report was not confirmed by Michigan State spokesperson Emily Guerrant, who said the appeals process is still underway. Washington will have 10 days to appeal such a decision. Guerrant also informed the Lansing State Journal that Washington is no longer a student at MSU and did not register for fall or summer classes.

Back in January, the Spartans’ head coach Tom Izzo suspended Washington without explanation.

Washington’s attorney, Mary Chartier, told the Lansing State Journal that they would definitely be appealing the case:

“Mr. Washington is innocent of this allegation,” she told the Lansing State Journal. “He was denied basic due process, and then this erroneous decision was issued.”
