Questions surround the Washington Redskins heading into 2019, mostly on the offensive side of the ball.
While Jay Gruden is an offensive mind, he has a tall task in front of him when it comes to choosing between Dwayne Haskins and Case Keenum under center.
And that’s just the beginning.
On a list ranking each team’s offensive arsenal, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell ranked the Redskins 28th out of 32:
Washington is better at other positions, but injury concerns perennially loom over Jordan Reed and now 34-year-old running back Adrian Peterson. Derrius Guice, a second-round pick in 2018, is coming off a torn ACL, while Chris Thompson was banged up all season and saw his efficiency metrics crater after returning from a broken leg. An impressive debut season from Guice would give Washington a building block for 2020.
The injury concerns are valid and especially unsettling given the recent injury suffered by Derrius Guice again.
Other than the mentioned concerns there, plus the question under center, the fact Paul Richardson didn’t help much after coming over in free agency last year and Josh Doctson continues to have problems living up to his first-round status, the ranking seems justified.
One could argue the Redskins have plenty of potential on offense — but potential isn’t going to land them high up on lists like this.
