ESPN: Big Ten presidents now set to meet Tuesday morning to discuss fate of college football season

It’s the story that just keeps on going — and might we add — places we never saw coming. At first there were very reputable outlets and sources pointing to the inevitable end to Big Ten football this fall. There was a so-called vote that took place by the presidents and everything. It was a done deal, all except an announcement that was to come Tuesday.

Then there was no vote apparently. And even an “emergency” meeting to discuss and vote on the fate of the season turned into just a meeting by athletic directors to discuss things Monday night. So, no news, which in this case is extremely good news if you’re in the camp rooting for a season (hint we’re looking for kindling and building s’mores).

So what we thought we thought we knew has turned into what we don’t think we thought we knew — or something like that.

But now there’s a brand new report from ESPN that yes — there will indeed be a meeting of the Big Ten bruised and battered minds on Tuesday morning in which maybe, kinda, there could potentially be a real discussion and vote on what happens in the Big Ten. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. ET with the school presidents. Oh, to be a fly on the crumbling wall.

Got it? Okay. Then you’re further ahead than we are at this point.

Further in the report by Heather Dinich is that sources are now pointing to new things on the table like a delayed start to as late as September 26 to see how things play out once students arrive on campus. There is of course, still the option of moving the season to the spring which Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren seems to be in favor of.

Regardless, the unnamed source explains that the majority of Big Ten commissioners are not ready to “pull the plug” just yet, but that canceling or postponing the season is definitely still on the table.

So the saga continues and we’ll have more for you Tuesday morning or early afternoon as the shower of news begins to hit.

Also in other breaking news: I am tired.
