Esperance property prepared for renovation trashed by vandals

Vandals targeted every window in every building on the property.

Every window has been smashed and every wall punched through in a daylight vandalism attack on an Esperance property.

Owner Bradley Thorpe told the ABC he had recently bought the Sinclair property, which had a homestead and several other buildings on it.

He had spent the past few months preparing it for renovation.

"I've just been working on it flat out for the last few months, just tidying it up and renovating the back house to get it ready to rent out and it's just been destroyed in one afternoon, by the looks of it," Mr Thorpe said.

It is believed the vandals struck on Tuesday after jumping a back fence.

They proceeded to smash every window, including the fireplace door, and punched holes in every wall, which had been prepared for painting.

They even torched Mr Thorpe's grandfather's tractor, which he had been using to clean up the property. It is now a write off.

The offenders did not stop at the homestead, they also trashed several other buildings on the old drive-in cinema site.

"There's other buildings on the property that have got lots of windows, every single window smashed, walls kicked in, furniture thrown around, fridges tipped over, yeah basically they've just gone through everything," Mr Thorpe said.

Police are investigating and insurance assessors have estimated the damage bill could exceed $100,000.
