A man who escaped from a Dunfermline prison cell and went on the run for more than 24 hours has been traced.
The 33-year-old absconded from a cell a the town's police station at around 9am on Monday morning.
An extensive manhunt was launched for the prisoner, who escaped from GeoAmey staff.
But police have since confirmed he was traced to an address in Kirkcaldy.
He was arrested this afternoon and is due in court tomorrow.
Police Scotland confirmed: "Officers in Fife have traced a man who absconded from GeoAmey staff at Dunfermline Police Station on Monday, August 19.
"The 33-year-old was arrested at an address in Kirkcaldy around 4.30pm on Tuesday 20 August and is expected to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court tomorrow."
