Escape to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge snaps at wife Angel over renovation idea

Any home renovations can cause tensions to flare between the strongest of couple's - so when your grand plan happens to involve restoring a 19th century French Chateau we can forgive owner Dick Strawbridge if his patience is sometimes wearing thin.

Together with his wife and passionate business partner Angel Adoree, the pair are transforming the idyllic farmhouse Chateau complete with its own moat back to its former glory and new magical wedding venue.

And as viewers of the popular TV Show, Escape to The Chateau have seen, it isn't without its challenges on their journey to become a unique wedding venue to help pay for upkeep and costly repairs of their mansion-sized home.

Without the budget for costly developers, the pair are painstakingly doing the project themselves by combining talents, even if Angel's visions are sometimes more challenging than even engineer Dick can handle.

Letting off steam in an episode which saw them looking to open up the honeymoon sweet, the pair clashed over what Dick claims "is impossible" to achieve.

Angel explains: “What would be amazing is if you came in here and this was your wedding salon, and there was an archway or an opening here to the bedroom and the bathroom over there."

To achieve the dream, they needed to knock through a three-foot-deep 150-year-old wall, but Dick wanted to hit the brakes.

"That is one of the biggest walls in the house,” he cautioned.

The couple's winning charm plays out on screen as Angel quips about the load bearing wall, “Pretty important, isn’t it?

To which he replies, "It’s quite important, yeah."

But undeterred by the move which could quite literally bring the house crashing down around them she continues:

“When the archway comes…” she said to Dick for his approval, which only made Dick get more annoyed with her demands.

“Don’t go into this being grumpy, go into it looking like I’ve saved your money,” she said, laughing, trying to comfort him.

But Dick had the last word on the matter venting: “This is the biggest wall in the house, which is becoming an archway, what a monumental pain in the a**e.”
