Escape from Duckov Weapons Guide – Comparison & Best Early Game Guns

It's duck-hunting season! At least when it comes to video games, and no, we're not talking about the legendary NES game Duck Hunt. Rather, about the latest indie darling, Escape from Duckov. And I know I'm being Captain Obvious here, but good hunting requires some good weapons. Buckle up as we explain how to compare weapons in Escape from Duckov, highlighting the best early game guns and more.

Quick Summary:

  • Find out if you can compare guns in Duckov.
  • What weapons do we think are the best in the early game?
  • How to dismantle bullets in Duckov.
  • How to complete the Mosquito Elimination quest.

Best Early-Game Duckov Weapons

Don't be fooled by these cute, goofy ducks. The world of Duckov is actually a nuclear hellscape, filled with dangerous mutants and feathered lunatics. Given this reality, you'll want to properly arm yourself the moment you step out of the safehouse. From the get-go, Duckov offers a variety of guns and melee weapons to choose from. However, in our humble opinion, AK74U is by far the best option, followed by the good-old UZI.

  • How to unlock: Complete the "Parts Wholesale" quest.
  • Where to buy: Xavier at the Weapon Shop sells it.
  • Price: 1,510
  • Attachments: 3 Slots - Scope, Muzzle, and Magazine.
  • Pros: It's affordable in the early game, relatively easy to unlock, has a good range, solid DPS, and it delivers significant power for the starting zone.
  • Cons: It can be unreliable because of recoil and spread, making it a poor choice for a spray-and-pray approach.

  • How to unlock: It becomes automatically available once you build the Weapon Shop.
  • Where to buy: Xavier at the Weapon Shop sells it.
  • Price: 3,473
  • Attachments: 3 Slots - Scope, Tactic, and Magazine.
  • Pros: It is fast, effective in both mid and long-range combat, and surprisingly precise due to its manageable recoil and relatively small spread.
  • Cons: Fairly pricey for an early-game weapon, it may be wiser to invest that money in upgrading your base instead.

How to Compare Weapons in Escape from Duckov

During the first hour of your EFD run, you should have collected several weapons for your inventory. As a seasoned survivor enthusiast, your instinct will be to compare these weapons to determine which one is the best or most suitable for your needs. So, how do you compare guns in Escape from Duckov?

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, such an option doesn’t exist. You can’t compare weapon stats side by side. You can only manually check one weapon at a time, memorize the stats you want to compare, and then check the other. Hopefully, the developers will add this feature in the future, and we’ll ensure the article is updated accordingly.

How to Dismantle Ammo in Duckov - Mosquito Elimination Quest

In Duckov, there's no shortage of ammunition, especially when it comes to basic and rusty types. Before long, you might find yourself wondering what to do with all of it. Jeff, the bunker manager, will recommend dismantling it as part of the Mosquito Elimination quest. Sounds easy enough until you figure that there's no "dismantle" option at the Workbench. And Jeff doesn't explain the process. If that confused you as it did me, here's how to do it:

  1. Build a Basic Workbench.
  2. Engage with it and choose the Upgrade option (do not enter the Craft menu).
  3. Select the Disassemble Station upgrade and research it. Note that you need to have the Advanced Processing upgrade (the first one in the Workbench research tree).
  4. You should now see the Dismantle Items option when interacting with the Workbench.

Once you open the Dismantle screen, you can select items to disassemble into crafting components, including bullets. These will be converted into gunpowder, which you can submit to complete the Mosquito Elimination quest. From the Dismantle menu, you will be able to disassemble Duckov weapons, ammo, and other items.

Duckov Guns FAQ

Escape from Duckov features a wide range of weapons, each with unique stats, advantages, and disadvantages. The right gun for you depends on your preferred playstyle, the approach you take for each run or individual mission, and ultimately, which weapon you find the most enjoyable to use. If you have any further difficulties, here are some of the most frequently asked questions

How to craft weapons in Escape from Duckov?

Crafting weapons becomes available once you have built the Workbench. In order to craft a weapon, you will first need to find the corresponding blueprint and register it at your Workbench. Crafting weapons costs money and materials.

Where to find the best guns in Duckov?

In Escape from Duckov, loot is primarily randomized, which means there are very few specific locations where you can reliably find certain items. However, once Xavier opens the Weapon Shop in your hideout, you can complete quests for him to unlock increasingly powerful weapons for purchase.

Should you sell or dismantle weapons in Duckov?

In the early stages of your run, it's generally advisable to sell any weapons and ammunition you don’t need. You'll want to gather as much money as possible to progress through the game and upgrade your base. Later, you can start dismantling unnecessary weapons based on the materials you need.

Should you sell ammo in Duckov?

Survival fans often develop a hoarder mentality, feeling inclined to keep everything they come across. However, in the early game, you typically only need one or two types of ammunition, depending on your preferred firearms. It's a good idea to sell the excess stock, as you'll need money, and basic ammo is plentiful and more than sufficient for the early stages of the game.

Should you buy or craft weapons in Duckov?

In the early stages of the game, money tends to be limited, so I recommend primarily using the weapons you find in loot. These will be adequate for the initial few runs. Once you've completed the basic setup, you should consider purchasing the AK74U.
