ESB workers at the scene as thousands left without electricity as Storm Lorenzo begins to hit North Dublin

Several thousand people have been left without power as Storm Lorenzo begins to hit Dublin.

Many on the Northside have noticed their power cut with the ESB saying they're currently working to fix it.

Around 1,119 households around the Donaghmede and Howth area have been affected with strong winds believed to have contributed to the fault.

Workers are hoping to have power restored by around 5pm.

In Artane, 1403 households are currently out with workers saying they hope to fix it by 6.30pm.

They said: "We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible."

Elsewhere, 59 households in Macetown near Corduff are also without electricity as planned works take place.

The works are also expected to be complete around 5pm.
