ES Magazine's Jimi Famurewa wins prestigious Guild of Food Writers award

ES Magazine’s food critic Jimi Famurewa has won the annual Restaurant Writing Award from the prestigious Guild of Food Writers.

Famurewa, who has been writing the magazine’s Jimi Eats World column since August 2018, was recognised by judges for being "in tune with all that’s wonderful, bonkers and unique about the capital’s dining scene, and London life in general."

One juror remarked: “Jimi is blessed with merciless, forensic insight. This is the right man in the right place at the right time. A hugely readable talent.” The Guild is the UK's professional association of food writers and broadcasters.

Past winners include The Guardian’s Marina O'Loughlin and the Financial Times’ Tim Hayward.

"You only need to look at the calibre of previous winners to know that the Guild know their stuff when it comes to food writing", said Famurewa. "So it was an enormous honour, and the perfect lockdown lift, to be awarded this year's Restaurant Writing Award."
