'Erratic' taxi driver arrested after testing positive for cocaine

A suspected drug driver was arrested from behind the wheel of a private hire taxi.

Officers from Merseyside Police spotted a private hire taxi driving around the Waterloo area on Saturday, April 17. The vehicle, licenced by Sefton Council, was pulled over by police and a road side drugs wipe was used on the driver.

After the drugs wipe came back positive for Cocaine, officers arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of drug driving.

Sefton Police published a post on Facebook following the arrest, they said: "Operation Pelican Officers yesterday arrested a 40-year-old male from the Waterloo area for Drug Drive. The vehicle was a Sefton private hire vehicle and was stopped after it was sighted driving erratically in the Waterloo area.

"The driver was arrested after failing a road side drugs wipe suspected to be under the influence of cocaine."
