Eros Grezda 'faces Rangers probe' after spitting accusations during Ballymena clash

Rangers will launch a probe into the actions of Eros Grezda during their Colt side's 1-0 win over Ballymena.

The Northern Irish outfit reacted angrily to the 24-year-old in the second half with suggestions he spat on Andrew Burns.

In an ill-tempered clash, there was also an incident involving Dapo Mebude, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Rangers youngster reportedly had to be dragged away by youth team coach Peter Lovenkrands.

Multiple incidents during the second half led to midfielder Greg Docherty heading into the home dressing room to apologise for some of his team-mate's antics.

A Rangers spokesperson said: “Whatever action the club deems necessary will be taken after investigating.”

Ballymena boss David Jeffrey added: “There are some things I don’t really want to talk about but we received an apology from a Rangers player.

“There were incidents, which are not typical of an association with Rangers.

“Greg Docherty has apologised and as far as I am concerned, that is the end of it.”

Rangers were 1-0 winners over Ballymena thanks to a late goal from Serge Atakayi.

Grezda was subbed off on 84 minutes with the scores still tied at 0-0. He hasn't played for Rangers since a 3-0 win over Motherwell in April, and has been bombed out of Steven Gerrard's first team squad.
