Eros Grezda eyes Rangers escape route but has just five days to do it

Rangers have five days to get flop Eros Grezda off their wage bill ahead of the January window.

The Albania winger has been told by Steven Gerrard he will never again play for the club at any level after allegedly spitting at Ballymena defender Andrew Burns while turning out for the Ibrox Colts in the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Cup win last week.

But he has a potential escape route with two clubs in Qatar interested in the £1.8million signing from Osijek.

The clubs - Qatari Stars League champions Al Sadd and fourth placed Al-Rayyan - have yet to use up their foreign players quota of nine per team.

And with the Qatari transfer window not closing until Monday night, they may make their move for Grezda.

Grezda has infuriated Gerrard (SNS)

Rangers boss Gerrard was left seething by the 23-year-old’s actions and said: “Grezda has been told face-to-face what his situation is. He’s been advised to find a different challenge for himself and his representation is aware of that.

“We’re trying to be respectful and give him game time to keep his fitness levels up as there are still a few markets and windows open around the world that might suit him.

“However, if you behave in that manner you won’t represent this club any level. No one behaves like that and wears the Rangers shirt so there will be a disciplinary situation.”

Grezda later attempted  to justify his actions by stating: "Totally agree spitting is disgusting, but there is always two sides to a story!"

The wide man is seen as Gerrard and Mark Allen ’s biggest flop in their recruitment over the past year.
