Rangers misfit Eros Grezda has dodged heavy punishment from Croatian footballing authorities after a video of him attacking a rival player surfaced.
The winger, capped 12 times for Albania, was caught lashing out at Rijeka's Antonio Colak in stadium car park after his Osijek side lost to Colak's team in the Croatian Cup semi-final.
Grezda's 18-month Rangers career failed to live up to expectations after Steven Gerrard signed him following a Europa League tie against Osijek and he moved back in January.
He claimed he was the target of racial abuse which prompted his attack on Colak and could have copped a ban of up to two years if it had been proved it was a premeditated attack designed to injure his opponent.
But the Croatian FA accepted Grezda's explanation that he was provoked and lost his temper. Grezda also issued a full apology to Colak.
The Croatian FA stated: "The disciplinary commission decided to impose a ban on Eros Grezda from playing in four championship or cup matches.
"He was sentenced for physically assaulting Rijeka player Antonio Colak outside the field of play at the HNK Rijeka stadium after the Croatian Cup semi final match, thus committing an offence under Article 57 of the HNS disciplinary regulations.
"Osijek have decided not to appeal the sentence."
