Ernesto Valverde explains how Manchester United can hurt Barcelona

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has praised Manchester United ahead of this week's Champions League quarter-final first-leg meeting at Old Trafford.

United host La Liga's champions-elect on Wednesday night before the return leg in Catalonia on April 16.

Barca all but wrapped up the Spanish league title on Saturday night as they moved 11 points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 win over Diego Simeone's men at the Nou Camp.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Mike Phelan and Kieran McKenna were in attendance as late goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi secured all three points for Valverde's side.

Next up for the Blaugrana is a trip to Manchester and Valverde has said he is wary of how United can hurt his team with their physicality.

"They are a powerful team," Valverde said. "They are going through a good run, even if they lost their last match (against Wolves).

"Physically they are really strong and they know how to put pressure on their opponents. They have players who are physically very powerful, and they can be dangerous strategically as well.

"This match is a classic in European football. Barcelona have never won at Old Trafford I believe and we are going to try and change that."

Barcelona and United haven't met in a competitive fixture since the 2011 Champions League final, when the Spanish club ran out 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Pedro, Lionel Messi and David Villa.

The winner of the quarter-final will go on to play either Liverpool or Porto in the last four.

Manchester United are only now experiencing the effects of their worst transfer decision
