The newly opened South West College Erne campus in Enniskillen has been recognised as one of an elite group of buildings for energy efficiency throughout the world.
The college is one of only two organisations from Northern Ireland invited to host a workshop at the COP26 conference in Glasgow.
At the conference leaders from the college signed a memorandum of understanding further underlining its commitment to sustainability and renewable technologies.
The college joined 25 other centres of excellence which are among the most environmentally friendly buildings in the world.
South West College is the largest and first educational building in the world to achieve the Passive House Premium certification for its efforts in sustainability, after its £30m opening in September.
Dr Barry McCarron, Acting Head of Business Development at South West College, reflected upon the sustainability work undertaken by the college in recent years.
Dr McCarron said: "The announcement of the Erne Campus as the first building in Northern Ireland to join this global network is a significant show of faith from the international community in the work that has been undertaken by the college over the past 10 years.
“Membership of this network will offer untold opportunities for the college and our industry partners to collaborate with and learn from some of the most innovative organisations from across the globe.
“With the opening of the Erne Campus we are firmly in a position to take a lead on the work that will be undertaken by the group."
The college will host a climate change workshop on November 11 at the global environmental summit.
The panel discussion will focus on how buildings can play a role in climate change, using the Erne campus as an example of how to design and implement highly energy efficient buildings.
