Ernakulam set to attain 100% vaccination

KOCHI: Industries minister P Rajeeve will declare Ernakulam as the district to complete 100% vaccination of its target population with at least first dose, at the collectorate on October 2. So far, 96.58% population received the first dose of vaccine.

Meanwhile, Ernakulam on Tuesday reported 1,132 new Covid-19 positive cases. Test positivity rate touched 8.78% on Tuesday. Five INHS staff, four guest workers and four healthcare workers were also tested positive. Highest number of cases of the day was reported from Thrikkakara and Tripunithura (51 each) and Amballoor (30).

Less than five cases were reported from 37 places in the district. As many as 3,090 people recovered from the virus on Tuesday.

The number of patients undergoing treatment at hospitals and at houses touched 23,582 on Tuesday.

As many as 42,414 people are under home quarantine. On Tuesday, 28,732 doses were inoculated in the district. Of these, 9,023 were given first dose and the rest second doses. So far, 42,11,827 doses of vaccine were inoculated in Ernakulam.
