Ernakulam logs 3,178 new Covid cases

KOCHI: Ernakulam on Sunday reported 3,178 Covid cases. The test positivity rate (TPR) touched 16.43% on Sunday. As many as 29 guest workers, seven INHS staff and six healthcare workers have also tested positive. The highest cases of the day have been reported from Vengoor with 91, followed by Karumalloor (88) and Thrikkakara (87).

Less than five cases have been reported from 11 places in the district. As many as 2,022 were recovered on Sunday when 137 were discharged. The number of patients undergoing treatment at hospitals and houses touched 27,137 on the day. Of the total, 77 are in Kalamassery medical college, 1,249 in private hospitals and the rest in first and second-line treatment centres, houses and other government hospitals. As many as 42,496 people are under home quarantine. 19,341 samples were sent for testing.

Meanwhile, as many as 55 Covid patients are admitted to ICUs on a single day in Ernakulam. There were only 266 patients were under treatment in ICUs in Ernakulam. However, it touched 321 on Sunday.
