Hans-Joachim Watzke has denied that Erling Haaland's summer departure from Borussia Dortmund is set in stone.
It has been widely speculated Haaland's contract at Dortmund contains a release clause that will allow the striker to seek a move away as long as a team stumps up the reported £64 million required to activate it.
Haaland was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City and their Premier League rivals Chelsea during the summer transfer window but Dortmund are said to have set the player's price tag at a whopping £150m.
Chelsea looked elsewhere, signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan while City tried to sign Harry Kane but failed in their move for the Tottenham talisman.
Haaland, under contract with Dortmund until 2024, is set to be one of the most sought-after players next summer with the 21 year-old already scoring 15 times in eight games this season.
He netted 53 times in the previous campaign and managed 54 in 2019-20 including ten strikes in the Champions League.
Dortmund cheif executive Watzke has dismissed the notion that Haaland's exit is inevitable, telling German broadcaster Sport1: "It's not really decided whether he'll go in the summer. Let's wait and see."
He added: "That some experts then say, 'They're listed on the stock exchange, they have to sell them in the summer!' - that's all bull***t. This decision as to whether someone has to be sold is only made by our management."
Watzke suggested that Haaland could stay with Dortmund because of how well the player has come on at the Westfalenstadion.
Haaland signed for Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg for around £17m in January last year.
“He has developed incredibly in the two years with us. The player who came to us from Salzburg has made an incredible step in development.
"At some point he will play for one of the best clubs in the world anyway, even though he is already playing for one of the best clubs in the world."
