Erling Haaland to Liverpool? Manchester United, Real Madrid target 'ideal' for Anfield, says Fabio Capello

Erling Haaland is wanted by Manchester United and Real Madrid - but Liverpool should join the transfer battle, according to Fabio Capello.

Haaland has taken the Bundesliga by storm since joining Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January, with 12 goals in 11 appearances before football shut down across Europe due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bundesliga restarted at the weekend with Dortmund thrashing local rivals Schalke 4-0 in the Revierderby, and Haaland starred by scoring the first goal and playing a key role in the other three.

Standard Sport understands United and Real remain interested in Haaland despite him having only just signed for Dortmund, though a move in summer 2021 looks more likely than during the next window.

However, Haaland's immediate return to form and huge potential means it may be now or never for the likes of United and Los Blancos to try and sign the Norwegian striker.

Former England boss Capello was impressed by Haaland's performance at the weekend, telling Sky Sports Italia that the 19-year-old would be an "ideal" signing - but for United's fierce rivals Liverpool.

According to Capello, Haaland's pace, powerful frame and counter-attacking ability would suit the Premier League leaders.

And given he is already one of Europe's top forwards, Haaland has been tipped by Capello to get even better under Jurgen Klopp's guidance.

While Liverpool don't necessarily have the funds available this summer to sign Haaland - or the immediate starting role, with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane firing them to within two wins of the Premier League title - te prospect of the Dortmund star heading to Anfield could persuade United to make their move.
