Erling Haaland sparks pre Rangers storm as Dortmund chief fires back over loaded transfer confession

Rangers could be handed a major boost after Erling Haaland blasted the Borussia Dortmund board over transfer pressure

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will guide his side against Germans in the Europa League playoff round next month.

Norwegian ace Haaland scored a double in the 5-1 win over Freiburg to take his tally for the season to an incredible 26 goals in just 21 starts. He's now netted 55 goals for Dortmund in just 50 Bundesliga starts.

But he broke a self-imposed silence on constant transfer speculation linking him with £100 million moves to a host of Europe's elite clubs to complain that he's unhappy at being rushed into making a decision on a new contract by Dortmund.

And he's hinted he could leave this month ahead of playing against Rangers.

He said: "In the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision.

"All I want to do is play football. But they press me about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon.

"It means things will happen now. They have started to put a lot of pressure on me, and I have to accept that...so now is the time to get things started.

"I want to delay my decision because we are in the middle of a difficult period, with a lot of games. I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football, because that is when I am at my best.

"But I can’t do that now.”

Dortmund immediately attempted to play down Haaland's comments and their chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke, insisted: "There’s no problem with Erling. He is a spontaneous person. He’s allowed to do that.

"But he must also have some understanding for our situation – we can’t wait until the end of May.”
