Erling Haaland sends message to Crystal Palace flop as Manchester United scout star

Erling Haaland was once a big transfer target for Manchester United.

The striker ripped up the Austrian League following a January 2018 move from Molde, scoring 25 goals in 23 games for Red Bull Salzburg.

He was hot property and with numerous high-profile clubs, including United chasing his signature, he eventually made the move to Borussia Dortmund in January.

And his goalscoring exploits have not slowed down.

In nine games for Dortmund he has amassed 12 goals, including a 20-minute hat-trick on his debut.

And with Haaland enjoying life in the Bundesliga it seems United may have turned their attentions to one of his friends - Alexander Sorloth.

Sorloth is a Norway team-mate of Haaland's and is enjoying an incredible run of goalscoring form himself.

The striker is on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey, having failed to make the grade at Crystal Palace, but it appears the change of scenery is doing him the power of good.

Sorloth struck in the 2-1 Turkish Cup semi-final win over Fenerbahce on Tuesday night - his 25th goal of the season so far - and he has been directly involved in 32 goals in 36 games in all competitions.

Not bad for a player who managed just one solitary League Cup goal with Palace.

And his form has alerted a number of big clubs across Europe.

According to Turkish-Football.com , Sorloth has been scouted by a number of clubs with up to eight scouts applying for accreditation to the game to watch him.

Real Madrid were reported to be keeping an eye on his situation last week, while Manchester United were reported to be one of the teams scouting him during the Fenerbahce match.

The likes of Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Monaco have also been linked with a move.

Haaland sent a message to Sorloth following his goal against Fenerbahce. Sorloth posted a photo of himself celebrating his goal on his Instagram page, with Haaland replying: "King," with a fire emoji.
