Erling Haaland's verdict on Frank Lampard as Chelsea hold talks over deal for Man United target

Here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Marcos Alonso to Atletico Madrid

Marcos Alonso has emerged as a target for Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

The Chelsea defender has struggled for game time so far this season following the arrival of Ben Chilwell in the summer and it's believed he could be one of the players allowed to leave in the January transfer market.

Spanish TV show El Chiringuito are reporting that a return to his home country is on the cards with La Liga table-toppers Atletico Madrid proposing a loan deal for the full-back.

In addition, the report states that Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is said to be one of the managers keen on signing Alonso in the winter, but Chelsea's aren't particularly keen on their defender going to Italy.

Instead, it seems Atletico could be his next destination with a loan deal being mooted.

The report also claims the two clubs will split Alonso's wages 50/50 to complete a loan deal lasting until the end of the season.

Moises Caicedo transfer talks

Chelsea have stepped up their interest in the services of 19-year-old Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo.

That is according to a report by the Daily Mail, who claim Manchester United are also interested in securing the signature of the highly-rated youngster.

But despite reports in South America claiming that the Ecuadorian midfielder is poised to join United in a £4.5million deal, it is claimed that the Old Trafford outfit are not in advanced talks with Independiente del Valle, despite being heavily interested in securing his signature.

With that in mind, the Chelsea scouts have been keeping tabs on his progress and have reportedly held talks with his intermediaries as they consider launching their own move for the midfielder.

The Blues and Man United, though, are not the only Premier League clubs to be keeping tabs on Caicedo's progress, with both Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United having been credited with an interest in him.

Haaland's verdict on Lampard

The 20-year-old striker is reportedly on Chelsea's radar ahead of next summer's transfer window.

According to Sky Sports Italia, Haaland is one of the Blues' top transfer targets in 2021 along with West Ham United midfielder and England international Declan Rice.

Should Haaland leave Dortmund next summer, there will be a host of clubs queuing up for his signature.

But Chelsea may have the advantage thanks to their head coach as the Norway international has already delivered his verdict on Lampard.

In quick-fire Q&A with ESPN, Haaland was previously asked who the one player he’d want to have played with that’s retired and replied: "Frank Lampard."

Chilwell delivers injury update

The England international is doubtful for Chelsea's trip to Arsenal on Boxing Day because of an ankle injury sustained in the 3-0 win over West Ham United on Monday night

Chilwell had a scan on Tuesday to determine the extent of his injury and Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard delivered an update on the left-back - and Reece James - ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium.

With that said, Chilwell has been rather optimistic regarding the injury.

Taking to social media following the Blues' win over West Ham, the 24-year-old was hopeful the ankle problem wasn't so bad.

"Back to winning ways," he wrote on Instagram. "Hopefully injury is not so bad."

The aforementioned post prompted a reaction from Tammy Abraham, scorer of two goals against the Hammers, and he replied with a four-word message of encouragement.
