Erling Haaland's Liverpool warning which could be terrible news for Arsenal and Man United

Erling Haaland and Red Bull Salzburg are ready to deny Liverpool the chance of retaining their Champions League crown.

And that could be bad news for Arsenal.

Ahead of next week's final round of group games in European football's elite club competitions, the defending champions aren't yet assured a place in the knockout rounds following a 1-1 draw with Napoli a fortnight ago.

That result means the Reds must avoid defeat in Austria on Tuesday evening in order to book their place in the last-16.

A feat which is easier said than done as Salzburg have been full of goals at the Red Bull Arena this season - scoring at least two goals in every home game across all competitions.

With Jurgen Klopp's side yet to keep a clean sheet in the Champions League so far, it promises to be an entertaining game between the two teams - quite possibly mirroring the seven-goal thriller at Anfield in the reverse meeting back in October.

But Salzburg are determined to come out on top this time.

Haaland, who has already scored against the Reds this season, has warned the Merseyside giants that his side fancy their chances of getting the result they need in order to qualify.

"They are the world’s best team," he told TV2 ," last month. "But we know we are good at home and if we are at our top level, we have a chance."

Should Salzburg beat Liverpool and Napoli avoid defeat at home to Genk then the Reds will be playing Europa League football after Christmas.

That would mean another Premier League team in the competition.

Wolves and Manchester United have already booked their place in the round of 32, the Gunners can join them provided they avoid a heavy loss away at Standard Liege this coming Thursday.

However, with the north London outfit's top four hopes looking slim following a poor run of form which ultimately cost Unai Emery his job, winning the Europa League could be their only chance of returning to the Champions League in 2020.

But seeing Liverpool drop into the competition wouldn't be welcome especially if they were to take it seriously.
