Leeds-born Erling Haaland’s Leeds United allegiances have been questioned since he emerged as one of the world’s best young footballers, but his local knowledge cannot be doubted.
When Haaland began to make a name for himself with Molde a couple of years ago, historical quotes were dug up on his dream to win the Premier League with the Whites.
However, after moving to Red Bull Salzburg and then Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has been quizzed more frequently by the media and he has talked down those United links.
However, Kalvin Phillips has given Soccer AM a nugget of information which will have Whites fans beaming, whether Haaland is a supporter or not.
Haaland was pictured asking United man Stuart Dallas for his Northern Ireland shirt on international duty this month and having a word in his ear.
Phillips says Dallas told him there was a brief mention of United’s most famous song and phrase.
“He was buzzing, to be fair,” Phillips said of Dallas. “A lot of Leeds fans are asking what Haaland said in his ear, but I don’t really know. He’s not mentioned it, to be honest.
“I think he just said ‘marching on together’ or something in his ear and then asked for his shirt.”
