Erling Haaland's father could hold key to Man City move and other transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to sign Erling Haaland with the Borussia Dortmund striker's father, Alf-Inge, said to be pushing for an Etihad move.

The 49-year-old spent two years in Manchester with the Blues where he retired after a string of knee problems.

His 21-year-old son, Erling, has made a name for himself as one of the most feared forwards in the world during his time with RB Salzburg before he continued his exploits with Borussia Dortmund.

A £68m release clause will become active in the summer and as a result, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all lurking to snap up the forward.

However, according to Football Insider, Pep Guardiola's side are in the driving seat to sign the talisman.

The Spaniard is an admirer of the Norwegian forward and is said to be backed in their efforts to sign him, whilst Haaland's father Alf-Inge is reportedly telling the attacker to join the Premier League champions ahead of their European rivals.

Meanwhile, PSG are said to be monitoring Riyad Mahrez's situation as he enters the final 16 months of his deal in the North West.

The 30-year-old has been in fine form for the Blues this season and marked his return from the Africa Cup of Nations with a goal in the 2-0 win over Brentford.

The French league-leaders are keeping tabs on Mahrez as negotiations continue with City as they ponder over extending his deal at the Etihad, as per the Mirror.
