Erling Haaland's brilliant Stuart Dallas gesture shows he has not forgotten Leeds United roots

Erling Haaland may never have played for Leeds United but it is clear he still holds the club close to his heart.

The Norwegian superstar once again demonstrated his love for the Whites when he came up against Stuart Dallas' Northern Ireland on Monday evening.

After netting two goals in Norway's 5-1 win over Northern Ireland, Haaland sought Dallas out at the end of the game to ask for his shirt.

As shown in the Twitter video below, Dallas was delighted by the request and the Haaland said something that left the Whites midfielder with a giant smile on his face.

Perhaps it was congratulating Dallas on helping the Whites to promotion to the Premier League - or maybe he was once again reaffirming his desire to play for Leeds.

Speaking to Aftenposten, a Norwegian newspaper, several years ago Haaland revealed that his ultimate football dream would be to win the Premier League with Leeds.

He said: "I want to be the best possible.

"The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds. In addition, the goal is to become a better player than my dad was.

"I hope to get more caps than he did."

Haaland's love of Leeds is well known in Norway.

Speaking earlier this year, Norwegian TV commentator Jan Aage Fjortoft revealed that, in the 20-year-old's eyes, there is only one United.

Fjortoft told the Blood Red podcast: "At Dortmund, he has players like Julian Brandt who sees his perfectly timed runs.

"He would be a good fit for any club and for Liverpool he is good – when he speaks about United, he speaks about Leeds United!"
