Erling Haaland pictured in Munich as Dortmund 'eye Timo Werner' as transfer replacement

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland was pictured leaving a Munich restaurant on Tuesday afternoon, fueling speculation about his future.

Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in signing the Norwegian, who's scored 80 goals in 79 appearances for Dortmund since joining the club in January 2020.

And it's believed Dortmund will try to lure Chelsea ace Timo Werner to the Westfalenstadion as Haaland's replacement.

Several clubs are thought to be pursuing Haaland's signature, including Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United.

The 21-year-old's existing deal is rumoured to have a £75million release clause.

"Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after," said Haaland's agent Mino Raiola when asked whether the player will leave Dortmund last December.

"But there is a big chance that Erling will leave this summer. We will see. He can and will take the next step... we all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come."

And Haaland dropped a big hint about his future when he was spotted in Munich, as per a picture obtained by German outlet Bild.

If and when the youngster moves on, Dortmund could pursue a deal for Werner.

According to Sky in Germany via BuliNews, Dortmund are keeping tabs on the forward and are yet to enter "concrete" negotiations with Chelsea.

But they did recently sign Niklas Sule on a pre-contract agreement. The German defender has the same agent - Volker Struth - as Werner.

The Blues are reportedly not looking to sell the 25-year-old but are willing to talk.

Dortmund may struggle to match the £45m Chelsea invested in Werner when he arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020. His wages could also be an issue.

Werner has struggled during his time in England, scoring just seven goals in 46 Premier League outings.

He does have a prolific record in Germany, however, scoring 34 goals in all competitions during his final term at Leipzig to earn a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.

Werner also has also enjoyed success at international level, scoring 21 goals in 47 senior caps for Germany and winning the Confederations Cup in 2017.

"The last weeks at Chelsea have been difficult for me," said Werner last October. "I fell behind and had to fight my way back.

"In a career, things always go up and down, never steadily up. But you learn to deal with it. I have to force my way back in, and that's what challenges me.

"Of course I want more playing time, so I'm giving everything in training. Of course I can't be satisfied if I don't play. Of course I want to be a regular starter for a big team.

"But I'm not saying I'm desperate to leave if I don't start 10 or 15 games before Christmas.

"In football, things change relatively quickly. I have to look at the big picture to make my decision."
