Manchester United could be on high alert as Erling Haaland reportedly prepares to hold a meeting with Borussia Dortmund over his future.
Europe’s top clubs are keeping a close eye on the Norwegian ahead of what is set to be a huge summer, with many expecting the Dortmund superstar to be on the move.
United are right there among the clubs lining up to try and secure his services, along with the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
And they could well find out more about his availability at the end of the season, with the striker reportedly set to hold talks with his club next week.
Spanish publication Marca report that Dortmund have requested a meeting with Haaland’s father and his agent Mino Raiola where they hope to find out whether the 21-year-old wants to seek a move away.
Haaland’s current deal with Dortmund runs until 2024, although his release clause – reported to be €75million – comes into effect at the end of the season.
The figure is said to be reduced due to an agreement in his deal which was triggered after he remained at Dortmund for two years, meaning he could go for much less than someone of his standing would be expected to cost.
Meanwhile, Marca also report that Sevilla have lost interest in United forward Anthony Martial, despite the Frenchman’s desire to leave Old Trafford.
Martial has made his feelings clear, having told interim manager Ralf Rangnick he wants to leave United, with a number of clubs having been linked with a move this month.
Sevilla were the first to test the waters, but had their offer was rejected by United, and it seems the Spanish side aren’t about to renew their interest.
The report suggests Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi has not been in contact with either United or Martial’s agents for more than a week, due to the former’s high demands.
United are said to have asked Sevilla to cover half of Martial’s salary and also pay a loan fee to take him on for the rest of the season, but the La Liga club are now looking at alternatives.
