Erling Haaland makes statement on transfer future after winning Golden Boy award

Erling Haaland gave an update on his future after winning the 2020 Golden Boy award.

Haaland scooped the prize after being voted the most impressive young player across Europe's top leagues during a remarkable year for the Borussia Dortmund striker.

The 20-year-old began the year as Manchester United's top transfer target following his record-breaking exploits for RB Salzburg in the Champions League.

But after United pulled out of talks he joined Dortmund for a bargain £18million - and has gone to score an incredible 33 goals in 32 games for the Bundesliga side.

Haaland's red-hot form has led to him being linked with some of Europe's top clubs, including United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus.

However, the Norwegian insisted he was happy at Dortmund when asked specifically about interest from Turin.

"Have I been close to Juventus? That's what they say, but I've never said it," said Haaland in quotes reported by Tuttosport .

"I've been at Borussia Dortmund for a year here, I'm fine here and I'm happy."

Haaland's agent Mino Raiola did not rule out a move to the Serie A giants, however.

Raiola - who last week upset United by claiming Paul Pogba is desperate to leave Old Trafford - also won recognition at the Golden Boy awards, scooping the prize for best agent.

Asked about the possibility of Haaland switching to Italy, the super agent said: "In the destiny of these great players, a passage here is never to be excluded - it is always the Bel paese ('beautiful country')."

Meanwhile, after succeeding Atletico Madrid ace Joao Felix as the winner of the Golden Boy award, Haaland has set his sights on the biggest individual prize in football - the Ballon d'Or.

"The Ballon d'Or is my dream here, as is the Champions League - but I'm happy with the Golden Boy," he said.

Haaland is contracted to Dortmund until 2024, but the striker is expected to be at the centre of a transfer race between European football heavyweights over the coming transfer windows.

Meanwhile, he and his Dortmund team-mates face Sevilla in the next round of the Champions League after the draw for the round of 16 was made on Monday.
