Erling Haaland makes 'respectful' transfer claim amid Chelsea and Manchester United rumours

Erling Haaland has hinted that he will remain a Borussia Dortmund player beyond this summer, despite speculation over a move to Chelsea.

Haaland has been in sensational form this season, with the Norwegian's stock only continuing to rise.

The likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with the 20-year-old, who signed for Dortmund in January 2020.

The Bundesliga club just about secured Champions League football for the 2021/22 campaign - a blow to Chelsea and their rivals as it was something Haaland admitted was key in ensuring he stayed at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund finished third in the German top flight, just three points above Wolfsburg in fourth.

Despite all the speculation surrounding his future, Haaland looks as if he will stay at Dortmund, if his latest comments are anything to go by.

“Borussia Dortmund say I’m 100 per cent staying this summer? I’ve got a contract with Dortmund so I’ll be respectful,” he told Nent, via the Express.

“Champions League spot secured was so important to me, I want to play UCL football. And I’ve big dreams.”

Earlier this year, former Arsenal man Paul Merson urged Chelsea to offer Timo Werner in a deal to sign Haaland.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Merson said: "Timo Werner could be on borrowed time for Chelsea because it’s not working out for him at all.

"I think Chelsea will sign a proper striker this summer and I think they will use him as a makeweight.

"It makes sense to offer him to Borussia Dortmund as part of a deal for Erling Haaland.

"Dortmund will need a replacement if they sell Haaland and Werner is ready-made and proven in the Bundesliga. He would probably appeal to them."
