Erling Haaland in transfer last stand as Manchester United and other chasers await new Borussia Dortmund contract call

Borussia Dortmund are making one last push to ensure Erling Haaland stays at the Bundesliga club as the Norwegian striker is set to dominate the coming transfer windows.

Haaland, 21, has lit up European football in recent seasons as he shattered Champions League records at FC Salzburg before taking to the German top flight with ease.

He has 11 goals in just eight games so far this term across all competitions and his name will be circled on whiteboards in boardrooms all over Europe.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City – where father Alf Inge Haaland played – have all been linked for a seemingly inevitable move next summer.

Real Madrid may look to muscle in too but Dortmund are making a push to try to keep their generational talent, signed for a retrospectively ludicrous €20m in 2019.

Sportbild report there is a "glimmer of hope" Haaland could stay beyond the summer as BVB sporting director Michael Zorc and the Westfalenstadion hierarchy prepare a mega contract offer.

It's claimed by the German publication that Dortmund are offering to almost double his salary, from €8m yearly to an eye-watering €15m, or €288k per week.

That's bad news for the chasing pack but Europe's superclubs will still hope they can convince Haaland to make the jump – or potentially catch Dortmund on the hop with a winter window push.
