Erling Haaland gives Man Utd fans fresh transfer hope with 'moving country' admission

Erling Haaland has hinted he would like to follow in the footsteps of his idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic - giving Manchester United fans fresh hope a transfer may one day take place.

Haaland was on the Red Devils' radar in January, but joined Dortmund from Salzburg for the cost of his £17.1million buy-out clause.

In Germany, the 19-year-old striker has bagged a ridiculous 12 goals in his opening nine games, two fewer than Marcus Rashford has managed all season in the Premier League.

Haaland has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in Europe, making Man United's task of ever signing him even more difficult.

But the young Norwegian has suggested he wants to move around the continent during his career - much like his idol, former United striker Ibrahimovic.

"I like his mentality and how he sees different things. I think I've always had that confidence, too – that's just me," said Haaland, in the latest issue of FourFourTwo magazine.

"I also like how he moves from one club to another, in another country – which isn't easy – but he always comes in and just bangs in goals, from the first second. I liked seeing that.

"We're both strikers and we're both tall. But we have a different game. It's hard to compare us. I am who I am."

Ibrahimovic isn't the only former United striker favoured by Haaland, who praised current Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a man he worked under at Molde.

On how the Norwegian aided his development, he said: "I arrived at Molde as a young kid, and he helped me a lot. He was a good finisher, and helped me with striking skills and different finishing methods. He's been important in my career."
