Erling Haaland gives contract update amid Liverpool transfer links and makes Champions League claim

Erling Haaland has addressed his future at Borussia Dortmund amid tentative links to Liverpool.

The Norway international is one of the most sought after talents in world football, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs linked with his signature.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been credited with an interest in the striker in some form over the past few months.

Reports this March claimed that Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola met with Liverpool as well as the aforementioned clubs over the possibility of signing the striker this summer.

Dortmund qualified for next season’s Champions League in the closing weeks of the Bundesliga season, and Haaland says it was a ‘relief’ that the club secured a spot in Europe’s elite competition.

“Like I have said before, I am a big fan of the Champions League, and I think everybody knows that.,” Haaland told Viaplay Fotball.

He added: “It was a relief to secure that spot, it was really important.”

It was then put to Haaland that he will remain at Dortmund for next season, and the striker was asked for his thoughts on those suggestions.

“I have a contract for a couple of fine years, so I am respectful towards my contract,” Haaland said.

The 20-year-old has 57 goals in 59 appearances since signing for Dortmund, including 41 in all competitions this term.
