Erling Haaland drops major transfer hint amid talk of personal terms 'agreement' with Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has done nothing to dampen rumours of a move to Chelsea by hinting at a move away from his “comfort zone” of the Westfalenstadion.

The Norwegian hitman has long been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks.

In fact, some reports have suggested that he has agreed personal terms with the Blues, with now only a fee being the only aspect stopping him from joining Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Whether that is the case remains to be seen but Haaland has admitted that his personal ambition could convince him to seek pastures new at some point in the future.

In an interview with Icon magazine, cited by The Telegraph, the 20-year-old said: “I have been taking a couple of steps over the past few years and I think they have been good steps for me, personally, to get out of my comfort zone and to develop even more.

“I want to challenge myself in everything that I do. It’s something I think about. It’s also for everyone to always do this. People can sometimes be too comfortable staying in their ‘zone’ so I think it’s important to get out of that.”

A move in the somewhat near future would certainly follow the career path of the young striker, too.

Starting his youth career at Bryn FK, Haaland was soon snapped up by Norwegian giants Molde.

He spent just two seasons with the club and having scored 20 goals in 50 matches, then making the move to Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.

The striker’s trajectory continued to be rapid and he spent just 12 months with the Austrians as he plundered 29 goals in just 27 games.

It all means that his stay at Dortmund has been the longest of his fledgling career so far.

Despite having scored 57 times for the German giants, Haaland has still not quite managed to achieve one of his career ambitions; winning the Champions League.

He continued: “I have been thinking about the Champions League my whole life, wanting to play there. So maybe it gives me one per cent extra motivation when I go out on the pitch with the anthem.

“That’s my big dream. To win the Champions League one day. Hopefully I can lift that trophy and that really would be, well, amazing.”

That is certainly something Chelsea know about all too well having only recently lifted their second European honour against Manchester City.
