Erling Haaland signalled that he fully intends to honour his five-year contract at Manchester City, speaking on his first day at the club.
Haaland has signed a five-year contract at City after signing from Borussia Dortmund for £51million. He spent two years at the Westfalenstadion before that and is already on the fourth club of his career before turning 22. Some reports suggest there may be a release clause in his City contract that activates in two years' time, but his first comments as a Blues player indicate he may have little interest in utilising any such clause.
Facing the media for the first time on his first day at City, Haaland was asked if he was ready to set down roots for five or 10 years at the same club. Laughing, Haaland replied: "I signed a five-year deal, we start there!"

Discussing his ability to take another step up in his career, Haaland said: "When you see how I've been performing, it was a big step from Molde from my hometown club, big steps to Salzburg, Dortmund, now City.
"It's gone good, I've taken the choice, thinking through a lot of things every time. Now I'm looking forward to it.
"It's about being myself, to connect on and off the pitch, get to know each other. Try to build on something. I did that in Salzburg, in Dortmund. You train with each other, know each other.
"In Dortmund, it worked well with Jadon Sancho, after one minute on my debut he assisted me. It's about getting to know each other to perform at the highest level.
"It's a big challenge, a new country, a new league, new coach. I know how it is to come to a new club, I've done it a couple of times before. I'm looking forward to it. I smile a lot, work a lot, and hopefully enjoy the game a lot."
