Erling Haaland 'decides' future as Mauricio Pochettino's move to Manchester United 'almost done'

Welcome to the United On My Mind daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the best Manchester United stories that you might have missed.

The search for United's next permanent manager has taken a new twist, as reports in France indicate Mauricio Pochettino is in line to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's long-term successor.

It's been a pretty dramatic few days for United fans, who've had to deal with a lot of negative reports coming out of the club. The latest noises around Erling Haaland are unlikely to lift the mood.

United's search for a new midfielder is looking like it'll continue into the summer transfer window and reports from Italy have suggested Ralf Rangnick's team are leading the race for a Serie A star.

United 'have agreement' with Pochettino

The two names most frequently mentioned when it comes to the next long-term United boss are Ajax's Erik ten Hag and PSG coach Pochettino. It's now being claimed that the Argentine has a deal in place to become United's next manager.

Chief football reporter for Le Parisien, Dominique Severac, stated on La Chaine L’Equipe (via Canal Supporters) that Pochettino’s move was “almost done.”

“He won’t be able to say anything before the end of the season, but for me, it’s almost done,” he said.

“I’m telling you what I know. Manchester United wants him, and he wants to go… so we are not far from an agreement.”

Opinion: This would be a good appointment for United. I would've preferred Ten Hag, but Pochettino feels like a suitable candidate to get the club out of the mess they're currently in.

Erling Haaland 'decides' future

Manchester United were reportedly interested in the services of Erling Haaland and who could blame them? He's an absolute phenomenon in front of goal and most clubs would want him in their team.

However, the race for his signature was always going to be difficult and it looks the Norwegian has decided where his future lies.

The Daily Star is reporting that United have pulled out of the race to sign Haaland after discovering he wants to join Real Madrid.

Opinion: It's obviously a blow if Haaland has decided to move to Madrid, but that shouldn't deter United because there are plenty of other striker options available. Yes, Haaland would've been an incredible addition, but it's not the end of the world!

Milinkovic-Savic linked with move

A new name has cropped up in the latest reports linking United to a new midfielder - Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Milinkovic-Savic has been absolutely sensational this season for his club, scoring seven goals and providing as many assists in 19 games, all from a number eight position.

Calciomercato is claiming that United and Juventus are interested in signing him, but the the 26-year-old may be beyond the Italian side's financial reach.

The report goes on to suggest that there is an "informal agreement" between Lazio owner Claudio Lotito and agent Mateja Kezman over selling the former Chelsea striker's client to United.

Opinion: This would be a fantastic signing for United if they are to replace Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window. While I'd love the club to go and sign Jude Bellingham, I don't think it'll happen. A move for Milinkovic-Savic would be a great back-up option.
