Erling Haaland comment gives Man Utd the chance to seal dream double transfer

Manchester United haven’t given up on landing England winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

While world-beating striker Erling Haaland and a new central defender remain United’s transfer priorities, the MEN understands Sancho is still on the club’s radar.

United chased Sancho last summer following his stunning Bundesliga haul of 17 goals and 16 assists from 32 matches, but a deal couldn’t be struck with Dortmund.

Sancho quit Manchester City and moved to Germany four years ago and his form this season has also been impressive, albeit slightly disrupted by injuries.

The 21-year-old has scored nine times in his last 14 appearances for Dortmund and could return for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against City on Wednesday.

He is also providing a regular stream of assists for fellow United target Haaland and the pair have struck up an excellent partnership over the last 12 months.

Speaking about their relationship, Sancho told Bundesliga.com: “I'm happy he's here. He's a great goalscorer. He scores in every type of position and it's always good to have that main striker.

“Playing behind him and with him is just a great feeling, especially on the training pitch because we work on a lot of things like one-twos.

“I know where to find him and where he wants the ball, and he knows how I want the ball played to me - so it's a good understanding between us."

And the feeling is definitely mutual, with Haaland heaping praise on his teammate.

Haaland said: "You see on the pitch that it is very good and I do not want him to give me too many assists so we have to keep it down a bit! He's a great guy."

The dream summer for United would be to land both Sancho and Haaland, as well as a new centre-back to slot in alongside captain Harry Maguire.
