Erik ten Hag signing's Manchester United form to make him 'one of the main players' at World Cup

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the form which Christian Eriksen is showing at Manchester United could make him one of the "main players at the World Cup" in the coming weeks.

Since arriving on a free transfer in the summer, Eriksen has become a key member of the United squad and Erik ten Hag has been vindicated for showing faith in him. Following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, the Danish midfielder was without a club until the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

Thomas Frank and Brentford offered him a short-term contract and in that time the Bees reaped the rewards from a player who had a point to prove. When his time in the capital came to an end, the Reds swooped in to seal a deal for the midfielder.

On Sunday, Eriksen scored his first goal for the club in the dramatic 2-1 victory over Fulham. And now, according to Wenger, Denmark will likely benefit from the faith Ten Hag has shown in him.

"What could be great for football is to see Eriksen as being one of the main players," the legendary former manager told beIN SPORTS. "That would reward passion, strength of character, quality of football player and I think he is showing now at Manchester United that he is ready to do that.

"In the last game [for Denmark] against France he was absolutely outstanding so I wish personally that he will be one of the main players at the World Cup." Eriksen's first match of the tournament will take place on Tuesday, November 22 when his country take on Tunisia.
