Erik ten Hag's Manchester United appointment will allow Edu and Arsenal to sign £22m Brazil star

Arsenal may have been given an opportunity sign long-term target, Antony from Ajax, if Manchester United appoint Erik Ten Hag as their next coach.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position as Manchester United manager is in a dire state and the Reds are reportedly looking to replace the Norwegian with Ten Hag.

The Ajax boss has created an exciting young team in the Eredivise, but his departure could lead to players wanting out of the club, with the Dutch side having a long history of cashing in on their star talents after good runs in the Champions League.

Arsenal have been linked with many players from Ajax, but in particular, Antony is a player who has caught the club’s attention in the past, and it is an avenue Edu could revisit.

The Gunners first registered their interest in the young Brazilian before he signed for the Dutch side Ajax, when he was a player at Sau Paulo.

The Express claimed that the club had not ruled out a move for the youngster, whilst Unai Emery was the manager at Arsenal.

Antony played 37 games for Sao Paulo and scored four goals, whilst providing six assists.

But it has been his performances in Europe that have attracted the attention of the biggest clubs around the continent, as he has been a regular starter for Ajax, playing 59 games for the club and scoring 14 goals, whilst assisting his teammates for a goal on 15 occasions.

The young winger had been performing so well for Ajax, that it got him recognition from the Brazil international set-up and he was called up for the first-ever time in September.

His performances gave him the nod in the national team ahead of fellow starlet, Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid.

It will take a lot of favourable scenarios for Arsenal to be able to sign the youngster, but it isn’t an impossible outcome.

Solskjaer’s time at Manchester United seems to be limited after a consistent string of defeats, and Ten Hag seems to be the most favourable replacement as things stand.

Arsenal have been linked to other young wingers in Dejan Kulusevski and Noa Lang, and Antony is up there, if not better in terms of quality.

He would certainly be a welcomed addition to the squad.
