Erik ten Hag's 'good relationship' with Man United 'target' as takeover could ruin transfer plan

Here are your Manchester United headlines for the morning of Friday, June 9.

United's Amrabat transfer talks

The brother of Sofyan Amrabat - former Watford midfielder, Nordin - says that the Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag "is charmed by" the Fiorentina player but the Reds won't move for him until they have signed a striker this summer.

Morocco international Amrabat has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, while the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona are also reportedly interested in acquiring his services. The 26-year-old shone at the World Cup in Qatar, as Morocco stunned the tournament by reaching the semi-finals.

And it has now emerged that a summer move to Spain or England - to play for one of the biggest clubs - is the wish of Amrabat. His elder brother spoke to ESPN - ahead of Fiorentina's eventual Europa Conference League final defeat to West Ham United - to clarify Ambrabat's transfer stance - and explain how a potential move to United could unfold.

Takeover delay could ruin transfer plan

Manchester United run the risk of undoing their own good work on the pitch with a dismal lack of decision-making and clarity off it. We are 199 days on from the Glazer family putting the club up for sale and a final decision has still not been reached. We’ve had deadlines, delays and dallying.

Two frontline bids emerged months ago and Sheikh Jassim felt the need to impose his own terms on his fifth and final offer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains keen, and his move could see the Glazer family regain some control.

While Sheikh Jassim is seeking a full takeover and wants to clear the debt, Sir Ratcliffe's offer wouldn't immediately wipe the debt while the Glazers would remain in a minority capacity for now - something that supporters would be desperate to avoid. It’s abundantly clear that money and power are at the centre of the Glazers' thinking. No prizes for working that out.
