Erik ten Hag praises Marcus Rashford for making sacrifice in Manchester United win vs Man City

Erik ten Hag has praised Marcus Rashford for sacrificing himself for the greater good of the team in Manchester United's win over Man City.

United came from behind in a frantic finale at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime, as goals from Bruno Fernandes and Rashford overturned Jack Grealish's header.

The England international continued his remarkable run of form with his late winner in the match, a goal that looked highly unlikely when he pulled up injured towards the end of the first-half.

Rashford had received treatment on the pitch after going down injured in the closing moments of the half, and was clearly in discomfort when he returned to action.

However, the 25-year-old battled on through his pain in the second-half to inspire his side to a famous comeback win, and after the game, Ten Hag hailed his forward for the dedicated approach.

"I don't think I said he had to learn to deal with it, but he has; he knows how to deal; he knows that in top football you have to suffer, sacrifice, and have painful moments," Ten Hag said.

"Especially a player like he is, he's unstoppable, opponents will go tough against him to stop him. But you have to deal with it, and I think he's capable of it.

"He keeps investing, he keeps going, he keeps focusing for his chances and in the end he got a reward and the team got his reward."
