Erik ten Hag outlines plan to beat Arsenal as Mikel Arteta reacts to key Manchester United absence

These are your Manchester United morning headlines on Saturday, January 21.

Ten Hag outlines plan to beat Arsenal

Erik ten Hag stressed Manchester United "have an idea" how to beat Premier League leaders Arsenal despite the potentially crucial absence of the suspended Casemiro.

United remain the only side to have beaten Arsenal in the league and their 3-1 victory on September 4 came with Casemiro on the bench.

Ten Hag could recall Scott McTominay or Fred at the Emirates Stadium, where Newcastle are the sole side to have avoided defeat in the league so far this season.

Arteta reacts to Casemiro absence

Mikel Arteta reckons Arsenal still have to be wary about Manchester United even without Casemiro.

Casemiro, 30, has been an integral part of the United team this season after signing from Real Madrid, but he will not feature against the table-topping Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, due to a one-match suspension. Casemiro picked up his fifth booking of the campaign against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

It was a midweek fixture which started off so brightly for United, with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring as his teammates went after their 10th straight win in all competitions. However, they were pegged back at the death by Michael Olise, who scored a stunning 90th-minute free-kick shortly after Casemiro was cautioned.
